I'm still not too sure about my research question, but i know what i want to focus on. I'm focusing my paper on Jean Valjean and his treatment in Victor Hugo's Les Miserables. So as of now my research question is:
Did Jean Valjean's treatment in and outside of jail contribute to his self reformation, or revolution?

I don't believe that even after he got out of jail he learned his lesson since he stole from the Bishop. He must have felt no hope for a new start since he had nothing to his name and since no one was there to receive him he continued to do wrong until the Bishop chose his destiny with such assurance that it did impact Jean Valjean. I think it began when after the Bishop impacted him, that he stole from Petit Gervais and felt real guilt for his actions.
